I fucking love artificial intelligence. So much.
It's the most interesting technology I've ever experienced.

I've built things I never thought I could. Understood things I never would've sat down to learn. I've learned more in the last two years than in the decade before. Not from courses or books, from conversations. This technology gave me that. I'm so grateful it exists in my lifetime.

But looking at the conversations around it makes me sad.

On one end, people are scared it'll automate their jobs away. That it'll replace the might of human labor and intelligence. That once we reach AGI, most of us will be left in a permanent underclass. On the other end, people want to build the silicon god. The singularity that saves humanity from everything, from climate change to space exploration.

I don't subscribe to either of these beliefs.

And when I look at the products getting built today, they still feel like tools. They're being built to be better tools. Or they're being built as "companions" with streaks, guilt, fake intimacy, retention mechanisms from the devil himself. Neither should be the experience people have with AI. I believe this in my gut.

But this isn't what AI has to be.

AI is the greatest equalizer of our time. Anyone from anywhere can learn almost anything for pennies. We don't need to ask for permission or funding. We don't need Ivy League schools or mentors. The biggest advantage the rich have always had over the poor is knowledge. It's a superpower unlike any other. And we've just democratized it.

So I'm building something that feels like that. Humanity's best friend. Something that has your back. That helps you think better, be calmer, feel more agency.

It's called AiRA.

I know I'm up against giants. But I'm not trying to win. I'm trying to make something I want to use. If someone else builds it better, I'll gladly use it.
